Artist Spotlight: Junior Empire
This week’s artist spotlight is Junior Empire, a five-member band from London. The musicians are Jack Scott (lead singer), Joey Arnold (guitarist), Jordan Grispino (drummer), Diego Belmonte (guitarist), and Hannah van den Brul (violinist). The band was originally an alternative-rock group named The Mispers, but later underwent a change and became an indie band now known as Junior Empire.
Under the name The Mispers, they have two albums out to stream, while Junior Empire has single releases. Today, their music style also includes electronic influences. Released in 2016, "West Coast" was the band's debut song under their new name. Currently, the song has 1.5 million streams on Spotify. Following that hit song, Junior Empire released "Decide." The band explained that, "[W]e wrote decide when we were in a period of uncertainty and confusion which sometimes feels like everyday..." Junior Empire's style of song writing is easy to connect with because it comes from organic human emotion. Give "Decide" a listen on Spotify or Deezer.
